Why women confuse men
Sunday, December 25, 2005 5:48 AM
They want us to be honest, but do not like the truth.
They want us to be unselfish but are unwilling to accept us.
They want us to be loving, but will not accept our love.
They want us to be spiritual but chase after the "bad boys."
They don't care about the money but want to be well provided for.
They want a man that needs nothing that will make them feel needed.
They want to have children and complain when they are born.
They want us to understand them when they can't make up their minds.
Women confuse men because women are confused themselves

My Mother's Son
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 3:24 AM
As I look at the days that are past
At the squandered youth I knew would not last
I think of the lessons taught to my family and me
As we sat and we played at my mother's knee
She taught of love and beauty and song
And how to serve others all our days long
She cleaned and bandaged and kissed away our hurts
She made us meals and blankets and fixed our shirts
She taught us to cook and clean and to do our part
And to share the lessons with in our heart
To this woman what greater gift can I give?
Than a memorial of the lessons that I can live
And so when all of my days are done
How glad to be known as my mother's son

My Father's Baby Boy
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 3:23 AM
Through lessons taught more by deed than word
For actions to the heart are more loudly heard
He taught me my mother I must honor and obey
He taught me to find the straight and narrow way.
He taught me that real men can and do cry
He taught me that love would help the heart fly.
He taught me strength and mercy do not contradict
He taught me kind words can end most conflicts
He taught me the power and the grace of dance
He taught me to serve when there's chance.
He taught me these things and much, much more
And for all this my soul shall surely soar.
At my days end with angels I'll shout with joy
For I shall also be known as my father's baby boy

A New Day Resolution
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 3:22 AM
We begin with a resolution for the New Year
When we fail we give in to the fear
If you are willing to swallow your pride
Here is something others have tried
On this day I resolve to be a better man
On this day I resolve to help where I can
On this day I resolve to read a good book
On this day I resolve to improve how I look
On this day I resolve to control my wealth
On this day I resolve to better my health
On this day I resolve to get more rest
On this day I resolve to be at my best
On this day I resolve to open my mind
To possibilities of a different kind
Why settle for the mundane
Why not reach for the higher plane
Why not join the revolution
And start a new day resolution

'Twas the Month After Christmas
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 3:15 AM
'Twas the month after Christmas and the tree is already down
Not a ribbon or bow up anywhere in town
The Salvation Army has called a retreat
And even the carolers have deserted the street

'Twas two months after Christmas and love is saved for one
At least until the Valentine season is done
Even the presidents have been limited to one day
The memories of what they've done won't even stay

'Twas three months after Christmas and it is shamrock green
That fills the windows with a leprechaun scene
Rainbows and gold pots catch the eye
But do we even know the reasons why?

'Twas four months after Christmas the true month of His birth
But few give hail to His days here on Earth
And does anybody really find it funny
That for Easter He is replaced by a bunny

'Twas five months after Christmas and we remember mother
But do we take the time to remember another
Who gave birth, way back when in a cave,
To a son who would the world to save.

'Twas six months after Christmas and now time for dad,
If he is not forgotten in celebrating the grad.
It is also the beginning days of summer
When we look in the mirror and say "Oh bummer"

'Twas five months before Christmas and we have here a start
Remembering what was the patriots' part
The birth of one nation under God
But do we remember the paths that they trod?

'Twas four months before Christmas the hottest time of year
Where at the beaches nearly all clothes seem to disappear
Leaving little to imagine or for later to discover
And they say, "Why get married when we can get a lover?"

'Twas three months before Christmas and we have Labor Day
Where we celebrate work by playing away
Then we hurry the kiddies off to school
Does anybody else find this the least bit cruel?

'Twas two months before Christmas and the stores start sales
Even before "trick or treat" and ghostly tales
Columbus' journey even gives way
To chocolate candy ... what can we say?

'Twas the month before Christmas and the saints are now gone
Like the first little snowflakes that melt in the lawn.
And thanks for what is now given?
For worldly riches or those in heaven?

'Twas the month of Christmas now back to this season
But do we truly remember the reason?
They replace an "X" for His sacred name
To me this will never be the same

We remove Him from our schools and forget His holy days
Do we even bother to teach our kids how to pray?
We hurry around saying "What's in it for me?"
And the poor and downtrodden we hardly even see.

After all this we still seem to wonder
Where God has gone whenever we blunder
Who can we turn to in our hour of need?
Who will help us? Who in deed?

As this season comes once again let us remember the truth
And not just what we'll get. That's so uncouth
Why not practice the good will of this season
And most of all remember the why and the reason

As for me to the Lord I choose to give
Like Him each day I'll try to live
And why try to keep Christmas just once a year
When all year long we can spread the cheer?
